Is there a strong rumor that there won't be pro hockey players in the 2014 Winter Olympics?
If so, I'd personally think the US would be lucky to finish 6th, 4th, or maybe even winning a bronze medal if we're really lucky. Nonetheless, while it is very highly unlikely we'll make it to the medal rounds let alone gold, there's always a slim chance. Even underdogs have their moments of success. Therefore no matter how highly unlikely it is to pull something like this off, there is always a chance for an upset. If pros are allowed to go to the Olympics in 2014, chances might be slightly better.
